Darina has always been interested in portraiture.  Her portraits of local people combine the human form with the natural world to illustrate the connections between people and nature.  One of her portraits, “Belonging”  won the Portrait category and the People's Popular Choice Award at the Waitakere Art & Sculpture Awards (2015).
